Sea Water Electro-Chlorination

IEC has 20 years of experience in biofouling control through electrolysis of sea water to product sodium hypochlorite. These plants are frequently used in thermal power , Nuclear power, offshore and LNG plants.

Sea water passes through the precious metal coated electrodes placed in an electrolysing chamber. The natural brine present in sea water is turned into a potent called sodium hypochlorite. The concentration of sodium hypo from the system is normally 2000 PPM. This concentrated solution is first degassed to remove the by product- hydrogen. The degassed solution is then diluted to about 2 PPM and dosed at various locations in the sea water supply line.
